There seem to be several aspects of the goth culture that could explain the preponderance of bisexuals (male and female). First of all is the philosophy that things shouldn't be taken at face value, with no thought given to _why_ things are the way they are. Actually, that's not quite right (I'm operating in stream of consciousness mode here, bear with me). There's an element of defying the norm, both in appearance and values; giving in to extremes and flouting convention. And it's this attitude that allows people to consider behavior that society deems "unnatural" or "immoral." Second, there seems to be such an awareness of sensuality in the gothic lifestyle. One aspect of true decadence is the desire to experience any and all sensations as deeply as possible. Savor the taste of the food on your tongue, revel in the way the satin and velvet caress your skin, delight in the feel of the music as it envelops you and you begin to move with it. It goes beyond the cliche "If it feels good do it." Pursue the sensations and don't worry whether society approves or not. kirsti celyn@uwyo.edu
