I'm walking down State Street (Madison's emi-infamous downtown shopping district) and as there is every summer, there's a fundamentalist bible-banger preaching away on a corner. This corner is where traditioanlly a lot of the little punks and thrasher-urchins gather, so I think the guy's audience was just lost, but that's sor of unimportant. This was a prepared little show, an argument between the Preacher and a guy dressed in (get this) all black, an opera cape, white face paint, black hair, and sort of egyptiany jewelry. In other words, this guy looked pretty goth. But it was obvious that he wasn't because he was wearing black reeboks and not any form of boots. (well DUH.) So here's this street preacher, looking like Ned Flanders (the goody-goody form the Simpson's, for those who don't know) speaking into his little Karaoke-amplifier thing while this false-goth swoops around and tries to act demonic. The false-goth had a helluva lot more charisma and a better speaking voice, I'll say that much for him. And up wander my friends and I, dressed in black and boots (although dammit, I was wearing jeans). The preacher looked a bit nervous. I had just passed one of the SunPrarieGoths(tm), one who looks quite vampiric, particularly when he's wearing fangs (which is most of the time) and was tempted to go find him and get him to join us and maybe intimidate the guy some more. Next time I'm going to be prepared...I'll have my friend Peter wear his full death-cloak with the hood up, and have him swoop in and tell teh preacher that death is coming for him or something equally silly. Probably flip the guy out. Heh heh. Worship not the false goths. :-) =----------------------------Eric Oehler-------------------------------= | wonko@dax.cs.wisc.edu http://dax.cs.wisc.edu/~wonko | =----------------------------------------------------------------------= Have an adequate day.
