[snip] Tragic melodrama gets old real fast. I don't care for depression and try not to take mine out on the people around me. My mother once noted that I called her only with bad news. I didn't contact her until I fixed my life. It took an entire year. I don't know what to say about clinical depression. I guess my take on Life is, it is what you make of it. If you're always morose, you should re-examine your choices (career, friendships, partners, etc.) and start living for yourself. If you're always morose, you are having a grave crisis of perception. Be a fucking SPORT! Life is a Gift, and amusement is key. Laughter is healing, goddammit, have some fun. Eat a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich. Have some grape juice. Play with your crayons. Stomp in puddles until you are sopping wet. Climb a tree. There's no rule that says you always have to be the life of the party... but sheesh, it's okay to lighten up once in a while. People who "give up and commit suicide" *are* copping out, and rejecting a gift. What the hell! Life's not good enough for you? MAKE IT BETTER. Start saying to people the things you want to hear. Smile. Play. Go buy some Dixieland jazz. Do a cartwheel, for pete's sake. Do two. And *then* tell me about depression. It's no fun hanging out with people whose lives are filled with teary drama. That kind of drama belongs in soap operas, because RL is limitless, there's a lot more to see and do. You are not confined to a cheesy set with bad actors and too much makeup. You are not confined to a redundant script, and crummy background pop music. Be creative, dammit, and refine your character. Cheers, you ally-of-the-depressed, Echo
